From its manufacturing base in Burton-upon-Trent, in the heart of the UK, Hardy Signs Ltd has established itself as a preferred supplier to a nationwide client base.
One of the keys to success in the sector is demonstrated by the application of bespoke, custom fabricated, signage and display – offering the customer the perfect solution to individual requirements.
In January of this year, Lhoist UK identified the need to clearly and accurately display specific information to all site visitors at their Buxton Quarry Depot.
The company has been producing Lime in the UK for generations and, today, markets its products nationally and internationally – boasting a turnover in excess of £2 billion and employing 6,400 people worldwide.
To comply with latest Health and Safety regulations, Lhoist UK approached Hardy Signs for a solution to display information on ‘LTIs’ or ‘Lost Time Injuries’ at their Peak District site. These statistics show the amount of time since the last site injury and therefore the consequences in the lost operational time to employees or contractors.
“Traditional static signage didn’t fit the bill here as the display needs to update on a daily basis” said Nik Hardy, manging director of Hardy Signs.
“Our digital team put together a plan to incorporate individual LED panels into an external aluminium sign construction. The entire unit is mounted on steel posts and creates a seamless display which includes the Lhoist UK corporate branding.”
Many aspects were carefully considered in the manufacture of the project – specific high brightness LEDs are employed to ensure the information is visible in the changing conditions.
The dedicated software ensures updating or resetting the display is a simple task – and a wired or Bluetooth connection offers maximum flexibility.
“The solution provided by Hardy Signs could not be more suitable to the task required,” said Paul Geaney, health and safety manager at Lhoist UK.
“From our initial consultation it was clear that they understood our requirements and had the knowledge and experience to not only design and build the project but to ultimately install it too.
“We would be quite happy to highly recommend the Hardy Signs team and their services,” added Mr Geaney.
